Filing a Grievance
A grievance is a dispute, difference, disagreement or complaint between parties related to wages, hours, and conditions of employment. Below are the steps an employee should take for filing a grievance:
Step 1: Ask your immediate supervisor to speak to your union steward. (Management has 2 hours to respond to your request on the current shift. If a meeting cannot be given during the shift, management must allow a meeting at the beginning of next day's shift.)
Step 2: Write a clear statement that describes WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW. (Statements help to win grievances and are the most important piece of evidence.)
**Grievances must be filed within 14 days of incident. Request to see your steward ASAP to avoid untimeliness.
